Wow! I can’t believe it’s been five years since I developed Rikitraki. A lot of things have changed in Web development since then, so I think it is time to implement some sorely needed renovations.
Some of the changes are simply to bring the code up to snuff with today’s best practices. But some other changes will be functionality improvements that I have been thinking about for a long time.
In this post, I lay out what I am thinking for the next big release. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Wow, I can’t believe that my last post was back in July. I have been pretty busy with some consulting work I am doing in the Internet of Things (IoT) field. Pretty exciting! But I am committed to continuing supporting and improving RikiTraki…
You can easily embed a track that you have uploaded to RikiTraki, by using the html iframe tag. Simply insert an iframe tag in your post or page with a link to the trail, like shown in the example below. Notice how it is not merely an image of the track, but the active RikiTraki site which you can fully interact with!

This is just a brief post summarizing a few improvements I implemented recently on the 3D visualization part.
I would like to share some exciting changes I made to RikiTraki recently.
First, an invitation code is no longer required in order to create an account on RikiTraki so that you can upload your own GPS tracks and associated pictures right away. So essentially it means that we are on open beta now.
In my previous post, I showed how to register to RikiTraki in order to enable track editing functionality. Now you are ready to upload and edit tracks.
(Updated Feb 14, 2016: invitation code no longer required)
In previous posts I described how to find and view tracks stored in the RikiTraki database. Now, I will walk through how to post your own tracks to visualize and share with others.
